AOML purchases oats from producers in Central and Northern Alberta. We grade all incoming shipments of oats in order to ensure that our finished product meets our customers' specifications. Once the oats are received they are cleaned in order to remove any foreign materal that amybe included with the oats. The oats are then passed through various screening machinery to sort the oats by length and plumpness. Oats are then passed over an aspirator in order to remove any feed grade oats.

De-hulling equipment removes the outer shell of the oat (the hull). This process removes the hull while keeping the groat intact.

The groats and the hulls are then separated for the conditioning of the groats. The moisture level of the groat is increased and then the groat is heated and dried. The groats are heated in order to stabilize the groat ensuring a long shelf life. Moisture levels are customized to the customer specifications. The groats are then sized again and packaged for sale to our customers. AOML packages oats in a variety of bag sizes, totes, truckload, bulk rail car, inter-model, and vessel containers.
